Bayswater claim big scalp

Bayswater ladies side have claimed a big scalp in their division beating Wembley Downs 2-0

The Bayswater ladies were out of the blocks quickly looking to score a quick goal.

The ball seemed to be going out of play for a goal kick when Erinn Hetherington somehow managed to chip the keeper to find the top left corner of the goal, and Bayswater were in front creating unfamiliar territory for the league leaders.

If that was a dream start better was to follow for Bayswater as they doubled their lead after four minutes.

Again it was Hetherington who scored another brilliant goal, as she weaved passed the defense to find the back of the net. Bayswater showed they were up for the battle against the team who started the game as the top team in the league. The tactics employed by Dario Pellicciotti had rattled Wembley Downs and they were well and truly on the back foot.

With a loyal band of supporters cheering the team on, and with Hetherington at the heart of every quality move Bayswater were full command at half time.

As the second half progressed, Bayswater’s defense came under some pressure, but stood strong thanks to disciplined defender Hayley Anderson who had a sensational game along with Zoe Griffith, Amanda Woodward and Sheena Malcolm.

As ever Rocky Thomson stood strong in goals, keeping the young Wembley Downs team at bay.

The midfield led by Mel Pelicciotti and Laura Darrie were instrumental in setting up the win in the first half.

A big thank you to the Under 17s girls who made their debuts for the women’s team Chloe Barnes, Isabel Arias, and Cheyenne Carter after winning their own match.

Well done to all involved after a great victory.
